Formed in 1990, Claygate Royals is a well-organised, financially stable youth and senior
football club located in Claygate, Esher, Surrey. Our club comprises nearly
two dozen teams in the 7-18 age range, including three girls teams plus
a senior team and over 300 registered players on our books. We compete
in a number of local leagues, details of which you will find on this site.
We are actively seeking F.A. Charter Standard Community Club and are keen to promote football in the community, providing boys and girls with a safe and secure environment in which to enjoy the sport. All managers are required to undergo F.A.-standard Child Protection Clearance procedures and attain the F.A.'s Junior Team Manager Certificate status (including First Aid). We have a designated Child Protection Officer and a Child Protection Policy in line with County and National F.A. recommendations.
Latest News
BLIND MANAGER HITS THE HEADLINES FOR CLAYGATE ROYALS FC Claygate Royals FCs newest Manager, Tony Shearman, has put the club in the Media spotlight after becoming, surely, the first blind manager in footballing history with his newly-formed Foleys U7s as they played their first ever match in the Surrey Primary League on Sunday 7th March.
Tony, who has been blind since 1987, spent most of the week leading up to the game giving interviews about his new role which resulted in features on BBC Radio London, BBC Radio Surrey and BBC Radio 5 Live, with presenter Spoony even giving news of their first result on 6-0-6 just hours after the sides 5-1 debut win.
Several local newspapers also carried the story and it even made The People on the morning of the game.
The media interest has continued and their second fixture has been closely watched by Sky Sports and several national newspapers who are keen to report the team's exploits.
Tony, who recently left his role as Producer with BBC Sport after nearly 20 years with the corporation, formed his team with Assistant Manager, Andrew Brown, the current Manager of Claygate Royals Foleys U10s, after their sons, Harry and Daragh respectively, were unable to join the current Claygate Royals U7s side as it was over-subscribed.
Whilst Tony takes care of all the administration himself he relies on Andrew to give him a commentary on how the players are performing both on the training ground and on the pitch during matches.
The pair then decide on team selection between them as Tony pictures the line-up and tactical formation.
Our successful youth football tournament returns again this year with its new home at Imber Court Sports Club in East Molesey. Teams will be competing in all the age groups from U7 over the weekend of May 15th and 16th 2010.

New Players Always Welcome
Our aim is to provide a fun but challenging environment for boys and girls
to play competitive soccer. We have experienced volunteer managers, use assistance
from F.A.-qualified coaches and invest in equipment. During winter months we
have floodlit astroturf facilities. We are always happy for new boys and girls
who are interested in Sunday football to come along to our training sessions
which are open to players of all ages. Please contact the appropriate team manager (not the Membership Secretary) below
for more information if you are interested.

Pro star no longer make the Michigan training wear that the club currently
use. We are looking into finding a replacement so are unable to take orders
for kit currently. We hope to be able to start taking orders again by the
