The Foleys finished off the regular season in style on Sun 11th Mar 2012 with a fine 3-0 win at Tooting & Mitcham in their final league fixture. Read a full match report on this page.

The result means they finished in 5th place in Div 1 of the Surrey Youth League with 8 wins and 4 draws from their 18 games.

The team held their end-of season awards on Sun 13th May with each player receiving a comemarative trophy for what was a very successful first season in competitive football with a 5th place league finish and reaching the quarter finals of the Cup.

Special awards went to the following players:

Top League & Cup Goalscorer, with 13: Taylor Jones (accepted on his behalf by Elijah Hiscock who finished on 12)

Most Improved Player: George Lake with a special mention to Keiran Downer

The team will now play in two tournaments to round off their season before preparing for 2012 - 2013 as U10s

Tooting & Micham 0; Claygate Royals Foleys 3

The Foleys were always on top in this one with keeper George Lake a virtual spectator throughout. Taylor Jones, playing in his last game for the team before he and his family emigrate to the Middle East, almost made it a fairytale farewell in the 8th minute but his glancing header from a beautifully flighted free kick from Elijah Hiscock was straight at the Tooting goalie. Another free kick from Elijah shortly afterwards went just over the bar but, the opener came on 16 minutes from a rare source: An intellegent short corner from Keiran Downer found Harry Shearman in space outside the box on the left and the vice-captain picked his spot and drilled home for his first ever goal for the club.

Just a minute after the break Taylor's goalbound effort was superbly saved by the Tooting stopper who rose high to flick the ball away from the top corner. The second goal came in the 7th minute of the 2nd half when Taylor demonstrated excellent skill on the left flank and his cross found Ben Townsend in the box who showed great composure to turn and fire home. Another flying save from the man in the Tooting goal denied Harry a second minutes later from a well struck free kick.

Some solid defending, as ever, from Rafe Bletso and yet another captain's performance from Mack Downey ensured a clean sheet with Jamie Grieve rounded off a fine Foleys display with the third goal in stoppage time to ensure the team finished their league season on a high.

At the final whistle Taylor was given a resounding "3 Cheers" send off before the whole team signed his CRFC shirt for him to take with him as a momento.
